Days before their 60th wedding anniversary, Donald Sterling filed for divorce from his estranged wife, Shelly Sterling, multiple outlets confirm. The controversial former Clippers owner filed divorce papers on Tuesday, Aug. 4, citing irreconcilable differences. According to the Los Angeles Times, the paperwork was initially rejected by the court as incomplete, but was refiled on Wednesday.

"It is truly an unfortunate situation, however, my client could no longer stand by while his rights are trampled," Sterling’s lawyer Bobby Samini said in a statement.

The filing comes four months after a judge ruled Donald’s mistress, V. Stiviano, had to pay Shelly $2.6 million after the businessman secretly bought V. Stiviano a house, a Ferrari, and other gifts with his and Shelly’s money.
