Keyshia Cole's husband is in trouble with the law. Professional basketball player Daniel Gibson was arrested in New Orleans on Monday, July 29, for assault and battery, TMZ reports.

"Earlier this month during the Essence Music Festival, I was involved in an incident with other individuals while I was out with my wife," the 27-year-old athlete told TMZ about the event, which was held earlier this month. "It's unfortunate that some see opportunity in taking advantage of people who work hard for what they have achieved."

Gibson, who last played for the Cleveland Cavaliers, turned himself in to the New Orleans Police Department on Monday. No other details regarding the incident have been released, but Gibson is maintaining his innocence. "Once all the facts of the incident come out," he told TMZ, "I expect to be fully vindicated."

R&B singer Cole, 31, and Gibson are parents to son Daniel, 3, and married in May 2011. Four months after saying "I do," the couple filmed a vow renewal ceremony for their BET reality show, Keyshia and Daniel: Family First.
