Kirsten Dunst: Kissing Brad Pitt Was "Disgusting" in Interview With the Vampire

May 2024 · 2 minute read

Brad Pitt was Kirsten Dunst‘s first kiss — and he didn’t live up to the hype! In a new interview with Bullett magazine, the On the Road actress, 30, recalls what it was like kissing Pitt in Interview with the Vampire in 1994, when she was just 11 years old.

“I remember Brad would watch lots of Real World episodes,” Dunst says of the popular MTV reality show. “He had this long hair. He was just a hippie- ish cool dude.”

In the movie adaptation of Anne Rice’s novel, Dunst played Claudia, a young girl made into a vampire. Pitt, then 30, starred as vampire Louis de Pointe du Lac. (Pitt was rumored to be dating costar Thandie Newton at the time.)

“It was just a peck,” Dunst says of their onscreen kiss. “Everyone at the time was like, ‘You’re so lucky you kissed Brad Pitt,’ but I thought it was disgusting. I didn’t kiss anyone else until I was 16, I think. I was a late bloomer.”

Dunst is now kissing her On the Road costar and real-life boyfriend of one year, Garrett Hedlund, who, ironically enough, has been called Pitt’s successor by Vanity Fair and other publications.

How did Hedlund, 28, woo Dunst? “I took her out on a 3 a.m. canoe ride,” the actor revealed in the February issue of Details magazine. “It was not a stable canoe. We fell out and had to swim back in mucky, sh-tty water, like golf-pond water.”
