Kylie Jenner's Crazy-Intricate Beauty Routine Costs Thousands

May 2024 · 4 minute read

She pays how much? Kylie Jenner recently revealed her beauty routine to the New York Times, and while the individual items won’t necessarily break the bank, when you add her entire process up, it costs at least $1,600, and that’s on the low side.

For starters, the youngest Keeping Up With the Kardashians star, 18, uses a special dermatologist-made face wash (price unknown) every morning. “We have a family dermatologist, Christie Kidd in Beverly Hills. My sister Kendall had really bad acne when she was younger, and she really cleared it up,” she told the Times.

Next up: sun protection. “My sister Khloe taught me to wear sunscreen. I use one by TiZO3 ($54). It doesn’t really smell like sunscreen, which I like, and it’s tinted. If I wake up in the morning and have to run somewhere, I’ll just put that on solo,” she said.

To keep her skin hydrated, Jenner uses a moisturizer called Mimosa Blossom Dream Cream ($12) and Kiehl’s Creamy Eye Treatment with Avocado ($47). And to take all the makeup off at the end of the night, she uses a drugstore favorite: Neutrogena makeup remover wipes ($7). If she’s trying out a mask, Jenner heads to Sephora for the Sephora Collection Face Mask ($6). “I also found these masks at Sephora that all my friends are using. I’m obsessed with them. On the shelf there are a million of them—Sephora makes them—so you can try different ones. They’re so much fun,” she said.

When it comes to makeup, the newly blonde reality star reveals she doesn’t wear much day to day and clarifies that the vamped up, heavy looks you see on her Instagram page are for photo shoots or interviews. “Every time I get my makeup professionally done, I take a photo,” she said. “I do love lashes and lip liner and a light foundation and bronzer, though. My usual go-to is the Charlotte Tilbury Light Wonder foundation ($45). You can still see my skin through it. Then I use Nars Orgasm blush ($30). For my lashes, I like to go to CVS and explore all the falsies. I used to be obsessed with heavy lashes, but now I just want to find something super clean and light,” she explained. Jenner recently took to Instagram to share her love for Lilly Lashes, which cost $9 a pop.

Lancome Hypnose Drama mascara is Jenner’s go-to (at $28 per tube), and for that classic Kardashian-approved contour, she seeks out a contouring kit from Anastasia Beverly Hills ($40). “The woman who founded [Anastasia Beverly Hills], Anastasia Soare, also does my eyebrows (at least $100 per session). She does all my sisters’ brows. I really love the Anastasia concealer ($20),” she admitted.

Keeping some of her regimen in the family is necessary, and Jenner achieves her warm glow with the help of the Kardashian Beauty bronzer ($15). “I use it in the hollow of my cheekbones, the sides of my head, my nose and under my chin. For powder, I use the Bobbi Brown yellow powder ($38) that they have. I like yellow because it cancels out any red, and it works really well with my spray tan color,” she said.

When it comes to her dramatic lips, Jenner likes just using liners over lipsticks. “I have so many of them from so many different brands, so I just pick the color that works. I’m in the middle of creating my own lip kit, and I’m doing my three favorite colors: nude, a sepia color and a true brown. I’m super quick at this now. I could do this in 10 minutes,” she explained.

When she’s upping her glam factor, Jenner uses an illuminator. “I love to be super shiny, like that strobing trend that’s happening on Instagram. Anastasia has an awesome highlighter,” she said.

As for perfume, Jenner doesn’t really wear it, but she might spritz some Victoria’s Secret scents on from time to time (Coconut Passion spray, $14).

When it comes to hair care, Jenner shampoos and conditions every other day using Moroccanoil (shampoo, $23, conditioner, $25). She sees hairstylist Priscilla Valles (whose services alone cost anywhere from $500 to 3,500, according to the Daily Mail) for haircuts and extensions, and when she went through her blue phase, Jenner went to Nicole Richie‘s stylist Daniel Moon (his color services start at $125). When Jenner recently dyed her hair, she went to Tracey Cunningham. “She’s supposed to be the best with blondes,” Jenner told the paper.

For her statement-making nails, Jenner heads to Kimmie Kyees for acrylics (at least $150 per set) and she gets her spray tans done at Jimmy Coco ($350 per session), or uses Sally Hanson leg spray ($12) in a pinch.

All that adds up to $1,600 to $5,000 and that’s without the cost of repurchasing products she uses regularly, plus or minus multiple sessions with nail artists, hair dressers, spray tanners, her plastic surgeon (Kylie gets Juvederm every four months), and professional makeup artists.
