Madge's misery! Like most moms, Madonna wasn't too fond of saying goodbye to her daughter Lourdes when she left for college last year. The mother of four spoke candidly about the new change during Australia's Today show on Wednesday, Jan. 28.

"It's hard letting them go out into the world but when she left home to go to college I was a mess," Madonna, 56, explained. "It was really hard letting her go. I've come to terms with it but yes, I miss her and she's a part of me. It was like losing my arm." (Lola's dad is actor and fitness trainer Carlos Leon.)

Lourdes, 18, is a freshman at the University of Michigan, Madonna's alma mater, and is registered in the undergraduate music, theater, and dance program. She graduated from New York City's LaGuardia High School of Music & Art and Performing Arts (aka The Fame School), and played Rizzo in her school's production of Grease.

"I want my daughter to go to school there," Madonna said of her college choice in November 2013. "I keep telling her, Ann Arbor is an awesome place."
