The pavement is her red carpet! Mariah Carey made an everyday situation (well, for her at least!) into a glamorous affair on Wednesday, June 1, in L.A. Carey arrived at the studio for Jimmy Kimmel Live! wearing a sparkly evening gown in the middle of the day.

The “Butterfly” singer dazzled in her ombre dress that went from navy to teal in glittering sequins as she arrived for a taping of the ABC show. She paired the formal ensemble with metallic heels and diamond jewelry (including her 35-carat sparkler from her Australian businessman fiancé, James Packer).

After the show, the Mariah’s World star appeared in a second gown that was equally black tie. Carey showed off her curves in the one-shouldered, black body-hugging design with embroidered details and crinoline near the hemline. She wore the same sparkling jewels to accessorize her second look, but switched her shoes to a platform pair that matched the gown.

Seemingly revealing the inspiration behind her glam outfit choices that day, Carey later posted a picture of Marilyn Monroe to Instagram with the inscription, “Sometimes you just have to throw on a crown and show them who they’re dealing with.”
