Not just a Jonas Brother anymore! Stepping away from his two older brothers with whom he became famous, Nick Jonas is now a bona fide sex symbol and grown-up pop star in his own right.
The “Jealous” singer, 22, opened up in a new interview with Rolling Stone about all of the things that come with independent stardom, such as invitations to Taylor Swift‘s birthday party and sexy photo shoots, and how far he’s come since his teenybopper days with brothers Joe and Kevin Jonas.
“My life has changed so much in 12 months that I can’t predict what tomorrow is going to bring,” Jonas spilled, reflecting on his rapid evolution. In October 2013, the Jonas Brothers announced that they were parting ways after years together as a group and the release of four studio albums.
The three performers got their big break with Disney, nabbing their own show on the Disney Channel after making an appearance on Hannah Montana. The trio spent their teenage years with the likes of Miley Cyrus and Demi Lovato, and Joe admitted in 2013 that he had smoked marijuana with the two teen stars.
“I never smoked weed with any of my fellow Disney stars,” Jonas told Rolling Stone. “I smoked weed elsewhere. But I was actually way more guarded back then. I wasn’t partying too hard at 15, which is probably for the best. I’ve loosened up quite a bit since then. My Disney years feel like a long, long time ago.”
While he wasn’t partying with his Disney collaborators, Jonas has been having some fun with the likes of Taylor Swift and her famous friends. He shared a photo via Instagram from the star-studded December party with Swift, 25, and his stunning model girlfriend Olivia Culpo.
“I think that was just the tequila talking,” he told Rolling Stone of the rowdy evening. “That was a fun night. Taylor threw a really good party. And I was pretty pumped about hanging out with Jay Z and Beyoncé. Talk about relationship goals!”
As Jonas sees huge success with his 2014 self-titled solo album Nick Jonas, questions are raised as to whether he’ll ever reunite with Kevin, 27, and Joe, 25, in the studio.
“It’s hard to imagine saying ‘never,'” he said of a Jonas brothers reunion. “But for this moment in time that I’m in right now, I don’t see that happening.”
While a JoBros reunion may not be on his horizon, Jonas is quickly becoming acquainted with the new titles of sex symbol and gay icon, after stripping down for a sexy, talked-about Flaunt magazine photoshoot and a turn as gay martial arts fighter in the DirecTV show Kingdom.

“I had no idea,” Jonas said of the lustful fanfare that the photoshoot inspired. “It just kind of happened, and now I have a lot of unexpected new fans. It was pretty interesting to watch it all unfold and travel in the way it did. It’s resurfacing at the moment, as another male artist [Justin Bieber] has done a photo shoot similar to it. It’s one of those things where I’m getting sick of looking at myself like that.”
Of the gay community’s newfound appreciation for him, Jonas said, “I don’t know if I’d necessarily call myself a gay icon. But my goal in the last year was to expand and grow as a person and an artist, and embracing my gay fans was a priority. Some of my gay friends have thanked me for that, and that’s a really good feeling.”
“I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t a little fearful [about how my fans would react],” he added. “But you have to be willing to say, ‘I know I’m pushing myself, and if not everybody comes with me, that’s okay.’ I’m just thankful that a lot of them did.”
