Rocking a plaid shirt and his new lighter disheveled ‘do, the 54-year-old actor helped his lady love, 39, and her 2-year-old son Jackson with groceries in Beverly Hills, Calif.

The couple, who have been dating almost a year, spent the past two months together in South Africa, where they’ve been filming upcoming drama The Last Face.

While chatting with Us Weekly at an event in October, Penn’s 23-year-old daughter Dylan Penn gushed over Theron. “She’s awesome,” the model told Us. “They’ve been away for months working together in South Africa, so I haven’t seen much of either of them [but] she’s great and they’re amazing together. As long as my dad’s happy, I’m happy for both of them.”

Dylan’s compliments didn’t stop there, either. Penn’s daughter added: “She’s brilliant for one thing and she’s the only woman since my mom [Robin Wright] who can shut my dad up. The only woman! that is a f–king challenge so…she’s a powerhouse!”
