Sunday Night Fever! Fresh off her big win at Wimbledon this weekend, Serena Williams traded her tennis whites for black tie, rocking the purple carpet at the Champions’ Ball in London on Sunday, July 12.
The No. 1-ranked star player served up a major fashion victory in a showstopping, spotlight-stealing pastel gown, which featured an intricately beaded bodice and a floor-sweeping train. She beamed confidently as she posed for pictures — and with good reason!
Williams, 33, triumphed over Spanish competitor Garbine Muguruza to win her sixth Wimbledon title on Saturday, thereby completing the so-called “Serena Slam,” or victories at four straight majors. If she wins the 2015 U.S. Open in September, she’ll have the elite and very rare calendar-year Grand Slam, which was last achieved by a female player (Steffi Graf) in 1988.
That’s certainly something to celebrate — and celebrate Williams did. Joined onstage at the Champions’ Ball by men’s singles winner Novak Djokovic, the super-ripped athlete let loose and did a literal victory dance, to the Bee Gees’ “Night Fever,” natch.

As the crowd clapped along, Williams and Djokovic broke out their best John Travolta-inspired disco moves, groovin’ and shakin’ to the beat of the music. They stopped after a while and hugged, exiting the stage to enthusiastic cheers from their fellow guests.
Williams’ win made headlines all over the globe on Saturday, but not all of the attention was positive. Thankfully, the tennis pro has people like Harry Potter author J.K. Rowling on her side.
Rowling defended Williams’ enviable physique after someone on Twitter said she was “built like a man.” In response, the British scribe tweeted a photo of the athlete looking smokin’ hot in a form-fitting red frock, writing, “Yeah, my husband looks just like this in a dress. You’re an idiot.”
