How’s it gonna be? Well, for Third Eye Blind fans, it’s going to be tough going come 2016. In a new interview with HuffPost Live on Wednesday, May 27, 3eb’s lead singer, Stephan Jenkins, said the band will hang up their headphones — kind of — after the June release of Dopamine.
“It’s going to be the last LP, in the sense of the standard practice of writing a bunch of songs, recording, setting up the album, all of those things,” Jenkins, 50, told HuffPost Live of the album that follows their sole No. 1 album, Ursa Major, in 2009
“When I write a song, I want to post it, [send] out to the universe, and it’s done. I think my process now works better with the digital tools for uploading. I’m not going to worry about ways to monetize this; I’m going to go by the happiness quotient,” said Jenkins, known for his band’s singles “How’s It Gonna Be” “Jumper,” and “Semi-Charmed Life.”

Set to kick off a nationwide tour with Dashboard Confessional on May 29, the band now makes their living as a traveling act, instead of fighting for a space within the digital music landscape.
“We used to make our living selling records, when music had value. Now, it’s presumed to be free. We’re lucky we have an audience we can engage live, and we can make records on our own terms. I think that’s very difficult for artists today,” Jenkins, who drew inspiration for the new album from Beyonce and Calvin Harris, said. “We’ve always been pretty DIY.”
