Tom Bergeron's Father Dead at 81, DWTS Host Dedicates Episode to Dad

May 2024 · 2 minute read

Longtime Dancing With the Stars host Tom Bergeron dedicated Monday night's episode of the smash dancing reality competition to his father, Raymond, who died this past week.

Bergeron, 60, made an emotional announcement during the broadcast that his dad had passed away. "My dad loved this show," the TV personality said. "Never missed an episode, and I'd like to think somewhere that he didn't miss this one."

Bergeron skipped last week's DWTS to be with his father during his final days. "I'll miss 2morrow's #dwts to be at my Dad's bedside," Bergeron tweeted on Oct. 4, alongside a throwback snap of himself with his parent. "He's given me a lifetime of support. Time to return the favor."

This past weekend, Bergeron announced that he would be back hosting the series on Monday. He also revealed his father's parting advice after 81 years of accrued wisdom.

Back with my @DancingABC family on Monday. Thank you all for the thoughts and prayers you've sent to my Dad this past week. So appreciated.

My Dad, looking back on his life, had one word for all of his worries; "insubstantial." Nicely said.

Thank You!
